Southern Maryland Wedding Venue Feature – Historic St. Mary’s City

Southern Maryland Wedding Planner

I had the pleasure of touring the wedding venues offered by Historic St. Mary’s City a few weeks ago.  My tour started with a tasty lunch prepared by Expressions of St. Mary’s catering at the Inn at Brome Howard.  This is not only a great place to stay and have brunch with your bridal party, but it makes for a gorgeous ceremony and reception site!  This location is right on the water and offers a romantic setting for your special day in it’s formal gardens.

The State House & Lawn is such a historical location to have for your wedding day.  This large brick building was constructed in 1676.  Inside is decorated with large baronial fireplaces, high ceilings and exposed beams.  The tall windows and doors add to the warm atmosphere and the doors open up to a large lawn overlooking the St. Mary’s River.  You will even have the infamous Maryland Dove docked in the background!

The other wedding locations offered include the Margaret Brent Gazebo, located just across from the Town Center.  This location also overlooks the St. Mary’s River and offers the perfect sun set for your ceremony.   If you have a smaller party you may be interested in the Farthing’s Pub Room.  If you are looking for an outdoor reception then the Farthing’s Arbor is perfect!  It will soon be undergoing construction to improve in size.

Whether you are having a small intimate wedding or a large event, Historic St. Mary’s City offers the perfect location for your event.  For more information on their wedding venues please visit their website: Historic St. Mary’s City Wedding Information
